Creativity Explored

Art is a connector of the mind, body, spirit and community. Creativity has amazing healing power that can help us deal with stress, depression, chronic disease, anxiety, pain, fear and improve the quality of our lives. It can give us presence and perspective over mental chatter, fear, limitations and judgments to awaken a new state of consciousness.

Artistic expression is not limited to painting; it can include photography, dancing, music, acting, storytelling, drawing, collaging, sewing, cooking, gardening, designing a business plan, architecture, interior design, fashion, building--anything that is creative and transformative.

While most people have some creative inclination, they may experience lack of motivation or inspiration. This can be thought of as a creative block.

What are creative blocks?

Creative blocks are indicators that it is time for change. Blocks can reveal a lack of enthusiasm, motivation, inspiration, fear of the unknown or a refusal to express oneself. This is often because people are caught in old ways of thinking and defensive patterns of expectation and judgment.

How can we work with creative blocks?

It is helpful to view creative blocks as reminders that it is in our nature to keep growing and transforming. Creative blocks can be viewed as stepping stones to enter into a new way of flowing with the creative process and in life.

We explore creative blocks in Awakening through Art sessions with many different methods. Blockages will dissolve once you become aware of what caused the block through guided imagery, movement, drumming and different art materials. You can naturally reconnect with your creativity and lead an inspired life.
